Facebook to Acquire 48 States, FTC

12/09/2020

(Menlo Park, CA) - The U.S. government and 48 state attorneys general filed wide-ranging antitrust lawsuits against Facebook on Wednesday, arguing for the breakup of the social-networking giant anti-competitive practices. The legal move has been signaled for a long time and other tech giants like Amazon, Apple, and Google are also under consideration for similar litigation.

In response, Facebook has announced plans to acquire the 48 states who filed the suit as well as the Federal Trade Commission.

"We looked at a 'stories' playbook where we create an additional 48 states and FTC that all love Facebook, but our engineering teams felt it would take too much time. So we're actively discussing a cooperative partnership where the states and the FTC join the Facebook family of products", said Mark Zuckerburg in a statement.
